Balmain Bemoan

H&M are at it again.  By it I mean collaborating with a big name designer and teasing the normo shopper with dreams of owning real live designer clothes.  This time it's Balmain pronounced bal-MAH-n if Vogue are to be trusted, which of course they are.  But can the same be said of H&M’s claim.  Unless you're happy to haul up to London's Oxford Street and wait it out with a ton of other likeminded fashionheads what are the chances of the line coming to a store near you?

Creative director,
Olivier Rousteing announced the collaboration at the Billboard Music Awards back in May flagged by a Kardashian, of course!  Great news if you’re near one of the chosen few.  When quizzed though, H&M told me “we’re yet to announce the stores the collection will be stocked in. Please check back with us later” No clarify on when ‘later’ would turn into ‘now’ though!

Having collaborated with other designers such as Lanvin and Isabel Marant, H&M are making sure they’re seen as one who wants to bring high end to the everywoman.  Rousteing also claims to be the everyman (or woman’s) designer saying “I want to talk to my generation: this is my main aim as a designer”. Which has me raising an eyebrow as well.

Your main aim?  Really? Because it looks to me like your main aim, Ollie, is to make a shed loads of cash. Which you are doing well, especially due to your hanging with the West and Kardashian clan (penance enough maybe?)

Whilst I'm sure there are people that have got their hands on designer collaboration clobber, personally I've not been so lucky. The conscious collection didn’t appear in my home town and sold out online before you could say ‘I’ll take the maxi skirt in a 10’.  It’s feeling more likely that I'll see unicorn poop than a true designer item less than a trip to London away.

Come November I’ll keep my fingers crossed, but I won’t hold my breath.

Have you ever had any luck getting hold of a designer collaboration item?

Same here - the clothes never seem to make it to my local H&M. I do like the teasers for the collection though so I live in hope x

Love the look of the collection but I doubt it will come to any of the H&M's I live by either

I'm very excited for this collection, it looks really good! But yes I'm also very worried that I won't be able to get a piece from the collection before its sold out! :)
